Navy relief teams on standby for weather-hit communities

The Sri Lanka Navy has kept 171 disaster relief teams on standby to assist people affected by adverse weather across the island. As of this morning, 14 October 2026, 5 teams had been deployed in the Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces.

Incidentally, the Western Naval Command deployed 1 team each in Nawalapitiya and Gampola and additional 3 teams to Rathnapura.
