Suspect arrested with 30 foreign electronic cigarettes

A coordinated operation by the Sri Lanka Navy and Police led to the arrest of a suspect (1) and seizure of 30 foreign electronic cigarettes prepared for illegal sale near the Customs Headquarters in Colombo Fort on 15 October 2026.

The operation was conducted by naval personnel attached to SLNS Rangalla in the Western Naval Command with the assistance of Divisional Crime Investigation Unit of Mirihana.

The suspect, a 37 year old resident of Yatiyantota, was found in possession of the electronic cigarettes, which were intended for illegal sale. The suspect, together with electronic cigarettes, was subsequently handed over to the Welikada Police Station for onward legal proceedings.
