Navy throws weight behind national dengue control drive

The Sri Lanka Navy deployed over 1,000 naval personnel across multiple districts to assist the national dengue control programme held from 14 to 19 September 2026.

The initiative was jointly organized by the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ Secretariat, the National Dengue Control Unit, and the Armed Forces to curb potential outbreaks triggered by recent weather conditions.

Naval personnel conducted inspections and eradication measures across 62 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions. The operations targeted high-risk areas in the Colombo, Kandy, Galle, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Ampara, and Jaffna districts.
