Reverse Osmosis plant declared open in Katharagama
A Reverse Osmosis plant established at the “Gangarama Vishrama Shalawa” premises in Katharagama owned by the Hunupitiya Gangarama Temple in Colombo, was declared open by Commander Southern Naval Area Rear Admiral Kassapa Paul, on 24th July 2019.
On a request made by the Chief Incumbent of Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Ven.Dr.Galaboda Gnanissara Thero, this RO plant was set up by the Sri Lanka Navy with the funds provided by Birmingham Rotary Club in Alabama, USA. This is the 9th RO plant established with the Naval labour in Katharagama area and it will provide pure drinking water for the devotees as well the residents of the area.
This new facility will not only provide safe drinking water to devotees of different faith who visit Katharagama, but also an initiative aimed at the promotion of reconciliation among them.
