Naval person rescues a man from watery grave off Kudawa, Kalpitiya
A naval person managed to rescue a man who was at the risk of drowning in the sea area of Kudawa in Kalpitiya on 30th December 2022. The sailor who is attached to SLNS Vijaya in the Northwestern Naval Command came to the rescue, as he was on duty at a nearby roadblock.
As reported, several people were bathing in Kudawa sea area on the evening of 30th December. Meanwhile, another individual had informed the naval personnel on duty at the nearby roadblock that one person of the aforesaid group was at the risk of drowning. Responding promptly to the situation, Leading Seaman PGR Senevirathna, XS 84502 managed to rescue the person from the watery grave.
The rescuee who was in critical condition was then rushed to the Divisional Hospital, Kalpitiya for medical attention. He was identified as a resident of Gampola, aged 24.
The residents expressed their gratitude to the Navy for their efforts in rescuing the person in the nick of time.
