Naval personnel deployed on rescue operations in the flood affected areas were able to save the lives of 87 persons.

Sri Lanka Navy rescued an Indian fishing trawler in distress in the Sri Lankan waters 11 nautical miles north-west of Thalai-mannar on 01st June 2014.

In response to the floods affecting the several areas in the Kalutara district due to the prevailing adverse weather condition, Sri Lanka Navy has deployed its Rapid Response Rescue and Release Squadron personnel on flood relief duties to render assistance to the people affected.
