Naval troops attached to SLNS Barana of the North Western Naval Command assisted the Wildlife Department officers to recover 24 Palu timber beams (2” x 4”), which had been hidden in an abandoned house in Marichchakatti, on 15th September 2014.

Naval personnel attached to the North Western Naval Command on information received recovered 19 kilograms of cannabis (Kerala Ganja) which had been dumped by cross-border narcotic smugglers in the seas south of Mannar. The detection was made in the early hours of 05th September 2014.

Sri Lanka Navy facilitated the repatriation of 23 Sri Lanka fishermen who had been released from the Indian custody. The fishermen along with 4 fishing trawlers were taken over from Indian Coast Guard Ship “Vishwast” at the Indo-Sri Lanka International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) North of Kankasanturai on 03rd September 2014.
