Naval troops attached to SLNS Gajaba of the North Central Naval Command arrested 08 persons with 1,359 kilograms of illegal fish catch along with an FGD and a Wallam engaged in illegal fishing using explosives in the general area of Kalupalama in Mannar on 25th October 2014.

Naval troops attached to SLNS Thambapanni of the North Western Naval Command on information received arrested two persons with 60 packets of heroin (290 milligrams) in the general area of Puttalam on 26th October 2014.

In response to the floods affecting several areas in the Galle and Puthlam districts due to prevailing adverse weather condition, Sri Lanka Navy has deployed naval personnel on flood relief duties to render assistance to the people affected.
