Navy Seva Vanitha Unit appreciates retiring members
A farewell function organized to appreciate the service of Mrs. Renu Jayasekara who has been an active member of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), was held at the Wardroom premises in SLNS Parakrama on 7th February 2017. Mrs. Jayasekara is the beloved wife of Surgeon Rear Admiral Nicholas Jayasekara who bade farewell to his Naval career very recently.
The function was organized under the guidance of the President of the NSVU, Mrs. Yamuna Wijegunaratne. A host of members from both NSVU and Officers’ Children’s Club attended this occasion.
As part of the function, a Tombola raffle was drawn and the winners were rewarded with prizes by the President and Mrs. Renu Jayasekara. The event was made more colourful with the singing performance of the members of Officers’ Children’s Club. Subsequently, Mrs. Wijegunaratne awarded a special prize to Mrs. Renu Jayasekara in appreciation of her service to the NSVU. The President of the NSVU also awarded a prize to Mrs. Nayana Kamburugamuwa to appreciate her service. Mrs. Kamburugamuwa is the beloved spouse of the former Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha De Silva.
