NSVU members arrange transport facilities, naval personnel enjoy Vesak celebrations
 

As per the guidance of the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Yamuna Wijegunaratne a special bus service was on the run on Vesak full moon poya day (10) facilitating the naval personnel to enjoy Vesak celebrations in town.

Accordingly, the naval personnel attached to the Western, Eastern, Southern, North Central Commands and SLNS Shilpa in Thalathuoya were facilitated with this special bus service to go around towns and have a look at the celebrations organized to mark the UN day of Vesak. Moreover, the naval personnel at married quarters, their family members, naval war heroes wounded in action and close relatives of the naval personnel were also benefited by this well-thought-out move of the NSVU.

As a result, the naval personnel in the Eastern Naval Command could visit Nagadeepa Purana Viharaya and historic city of Polonnaruwa. Meanwhile, the naval personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command toured Kande Viharaya in Aluthgama and Veherahena Viharaya in Matara. Dambulu Viharaya and other religious places in the area were visited by the naval personnel belonging to the North Central Naval Command. The naval personnel and their family members of the Western Naval Command were fortunate to visit the Vesak Zones in Colombo and Buddhist temples in and around those zones. Apart from that, the transportation service facilitated the naval personnel of SLNS Shilpa to pay homage to the sacred Temple of the Tooth and Vesak Zones in the region.

The NSUV also made arrangements ready for the provision of food and beverage to those who joined these journeys.

The naval personnel and their family members who participated in these religious tours extended their gratitude to the President of the NSVU and its members for organizing a meritorious cause of this nature.
