Navy Seva Vanitha Unit provides essential supplies to Apeksha Hospital

The Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), under the patronage of its President, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne, provided a stock of beddings, electric appliances and Medical Oxygen Cylinders for the benefit of children and other cancer patient receiving treatment at the Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama today (25th May 2021).

As another social responsibility initiative of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit this provision was made at the request of Dr. Devinda Jayatilleke, Consultant Haemato Oncologist of No. 17 Blood Cancer Ward, Maharagama Apeksha Hospital. Among the provided items were 50 bed sheets, 25 pillows and pillow cases, 05 table cloths, 02 fans and 32 inch television. Also at the request of Dr. Sanjeewa Gunasekara, Paediatric Oncologist, Paediatric Cancer Ward No. 15-C of the same hospital, 02 Medical Oxygen Cylinders (44 litre) were handed over for the benefit of children receiving treatment at the Paediatric Cancer Ward No. 15-C. The occasion was attended by doctors and staff members of the Apeksha Hospital.

NSVU executive committee member, Mrs. Shama Silva, Senior Supervising Officer NSVU, Commodore US Senaviratne, NSVU member Mrs. Priyanka Senaviratne, Director Naval Dental Services, Surgeon Commodore RPNN Wijedoru, Command Medical Officer (West), Surgeon Commander MVS Athukorala and members of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit were also present at the event.
