Foundation stone laid for NSVU Pre-school and Day Care Centre at SLNS Barana
President Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne on 10th October 2021 laid a foundation stone for a new Pre-school and Day Care Centre building at SLNS Barana, in a ceremony presided over by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.
Going by a notion of the President NSVU, it was decided to put up a new building for the existing Seva Vanitha Pre-school and Day Care Centre conducted in an old building at SLNS Barana. The event was launched as yet another initiative of NSVU Pre-school project, to broaden education opportunities for kids of naval personnel.
The event was held in compliance with COVID-19 protocols for the prevention of pandemic transmission. Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularathne, Executive Committee Member NSVU, Mrs. Udeni Kularathne, Deputy Area Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Commodore Mahendra Weerarathna and his spouse, Commanding Officer SLNS Barana, Commander PVPK Ranathunga, senior officers from Northwestern Naval Command, staff of NSVU and a limited group of individuals were present on this occasion.
