Navy Seva Vanitha social responsibility initiatives provide RO plant to village of Bakmeegahawatta

At the invitation of the President Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne declared open a Reverse Osmosis plant at the village of Bakmeegahawatta on 10th October 2021. As an extension of NSVU social responsibility initiatives, the new facility was made available at No. 141 Bakmeegahawatta Grama Niladhari Division of Mahawa Divisional Secretariat.

Responding to a request of the Chairman of the United Funeral Aid Society, No. 141 Bakmeegahawatta Grama Niladhari Division, this RO plant was made available utilizing manpower and industrial expertise of the navy. The facility was sponsored by Mr. Dhananjaya Bandara, the proprietor of DB Ceylon.

The opening was held in accordance with COVID-19 protocols in force to prevent the pandemic transmission. Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularathne, Executive Committee Member NSVU, Mrs. Udeni Kularathne, Senior Coordinator Naval Social Responsibility project, Captain WLN Gunasekara, Commanding Officer Naval Deployment of Maho, Commander RWR Nimalsiri, senior naval officers, staff of NSVU and a limited group of individuals were present on this occasion.
