The Sri Lanka Navy’s first Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel (AOPV), built at the Indian Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL), was commissioned in a graceful ceremony by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena yesterday (02, August).

Following the directives and guidance of the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Yamuna Wijegunaratne, its members organized a special programme inclusive of the events of practical importance in everyday life, at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium, SLNS Parakrama today (03, August).

Under the guidance of the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Yamuna Wijegunaratne, a photography exhibition was organized at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium, SLNS Parakrama on 24th and 25th June.

The naval personnel attached to the cattle shed of SLNS Gemunu were presented a special rig by the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Yamuna Wijegunaratne at the NSVU office in the Naval Headquarters yesterday (July, 10).

Under the guidance and directives of the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Yamuna Wijegunaratne, a Sil campaign was held at the war hero housing complex in Ipalogama on the Esala Full Moon Poya day (July, 08) for the naval personnel and their families residing at the housing complex dedicated for the war heroes.

Under the able leadership of the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, its members organized several Sil campaigns with the participation of the Naval Preschool children of SLNS Gemunu, Dakshina and Tissa on the Esala Full Moon Poya day (July, 08)

Under the able guidance of the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Yamuna Wijegunaratne, a photography exhibition was organized at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium, SLNS Parakrama today (June, 24).

Under the directives and guidance of the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Yamuna Wijegunaratne, computer courses are being conducted at the computer training centres located at several naval establishments.

Going by yet another initiative of the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Yamuna Wijegunaratne, an opportunity was created for the spouses of senior sailors to follow a beauty culture course sponsored by the NSVU.

To coincide with the Poson full moon poya day, Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU) organized a special pilgrimage to Mihinthalaya Viharaya, under the auspices of the President of the NSVU, Mrs. Yamuna Wijegunaratne on 08th July 2017.
