Sailing comes to Colombo, first day of Admiral Clancy Fernando Memorial Navy Cup Sailing Regatta – 2020 concludes on successful note

The first day of the Admiral Clancy Fernando Memorial Navy Cup Sailing Regatta – 2020 organized by Sri Lanka Navy in assistance with the Yachting Association of Sri Lanka came to a successful end on the waterfront of Galle Face Green today (29th February 2020).

The occasion was also attended by officers of the Sri Lanka Navy Sailing Pool, senior officers and a large group of naval personnel. Eighty seven (87) champion sailors from renowned sailing clubs in the country including spirited sailors of Sri Lanka Navy Sailing Pool with 70 sail boats took part in this event unveiling their skills in braving the winds. Among the participants were Royal Colombo Yacht Club, Royal College Colombo, S. Thomas' College Mount Lavinia, Ceylon Motor Yacht Club and Ladies' College, Colombo.

The schedule of the first day included events under the categories of Child Optimize, Laser Radial, Enterprise and GP 14. Meanwhile, several events are scheduled to be held tomorrow (01st March) followed by the prize giving ceremony at the Galle Face Green in the evening.
