Sri Lanka Navy clinches National Sailing Championship - 2021

Sri Lanka Navy Sailing Club clinched the National Sailing Championship-2021organized by the Yachting Association of Sri Lanka (YASL) and the National Olympic Committee (NOC). The event was held in the alluring waters of Bolgoda on 10th and 11th December 2021.

The contestants from the Navy took first, second, and third places in the Laser Standard class, first and second places in the Laser Radial class, first and second places in the GP 14 class, first, second, and third places in the Enterprise class, and first place in the RS One Windsurfing class and emerged the overall champions in Sailing Nationals 2021 demonstrating their natural sailing abilities.Veteran sailor and former national champion Mr. Krishan Janaka coached the Navy Sailing Club.

97 sailing boats representing Sri Lanka Navy Sailing Club, Ceylon Motor Yachting Club (CMYC), Royal Colombo Yachting Club (RCYC), St Thomas' College Sailing Club, Royal College Sailing Club and Bentota Windsurfing Club competed in this exciting event.

Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka, Mr. Suresh Subramanium graced the event as the Chief Guest. The Executive Chairman of Brown & Company PLC,Mr. Ishara Nanayakkara, Chairman of YASL,Mr. Joseph Kenny, Chairman of Navy Sailing,Captain Dumidu Abeywickrama Chief Operating Officer of YASL,Mr. Suresh Kuragama also witnessed the event.
