Inter-command Triathlon Championship – 2022 showcases promising talents

The Inter-command Triathlon Championship – 2022 was held in the neighbouring area of Dikovita and Uswetakeiyawa beaches today (26th November 2022). The men’s championship of the tournament was won by the Northern Naval Command and the women’s championship was clinched by the Western Naval Command.

The tournament was participated by 65 athletes from all Naval Commands. The event was graced by Director Sports, Commodore Roshan Athukorala, as the Chief Guest. The multiple-stage competition tested the skills of the competitors who displayed their overall fitness, skill and endurance in three continuous and sequential endurance disciplines: swimming (750m), cycling (20km) and running (5km).

In the men's category, Leading Diver PPRJ Kumara from the Training Command won the 01st Place. Meanwhile, the second and third titles were won by Leading Mechanic Engineering JMSI Bandara from the North Central Naval Command and Leading Infantryman KMGCU Laksiri from the same Naval Command respectively.

In the women’s category, the first place was secured by Women Able Physical Training Instructor RSID Senavirathna from the Training Command. The second title was clinched by Women Able Physical Training Instructor GDD Sakunthala from the Western Naval Command and the third slot by Women Able Physical Training Instructor MHD Bhagya from the Western Naval Command.

The certificate awarding of Inter-command Triathlon Championship – 2022 was held under the patronage of Director Sports Commodore Roshan Athukorala and Commanding Officer SLNS Kelani, Commander Sunanda Appuhami at the Malima Club House, Uswetakeiyawa.
