Navy cyclist wins first place in Meegoda Cycling Race – 2024

In a dazzling exhibition of speed and prowess, Navy’s Able Seaman KVS Kumara clinched the top spot in the Meegoda Cycling Race – 2024, organized by the Cycle Federation of Sri Lanka on 03rd and 04th February 2024.

The cycling race covered a total distance of 314 kilometers and 800 meters, with 124 cyclists representing renowned cycling teams from the island participating. Raced in two legs, the initial phase of this competition commenced near Dambulla Economic Center, traversing through Kurunegala, Narammala, Meerigama, Urapola, Avissawella, and concluded in the vicinity of Meegoda Economic Center. Navy cyclist KVS Kumara claimed the title of the fastest participant in the first leg by completing the race in an impressive time of 04:26:51 hours.

The second leg of the race started near Meegoda Economic Center and it consisted of a distance of 146 km. Accordingly, Able Seaman KVC Kumara secured both the team championship and the overall tournament title by completing the second leg in an impressive time of 03:41:47 hours.

In addition, Leading Seaman DAS Prasanga, Ordinary Seaman PDSP Chandika, Leading Seaman GNS Silva and Ordinary Seaman IKR Fernando also won the 11th, 14th 16th and 17th places respectively.
