Navy wins women’s championship and men’s runner-up title in Commander’s Cup Challenge Trophy Football Tournament – 2024

The Commander’s Cup Challenge Trophy Football Tournament 2024, organized by the Sri Lanka Air Force, took place from 2nd to 10th December at the Race Course Ground in Colombo. Showcasing exceptional skill, the Navy's men's and women's teams emerged as champions and runners-up, respectively.

The tournament featured football teams from the tri-forces. In the women's final, the Navy triumphed over the Air Force, securing the championship title. Meanwhile, in the men's final against the Army, the Navy finished as runners-up in a closely contested match.

Highlighting individual brilliance, Woman Able Seaman TADT Madushika was named the Best Player of the Tournament (women), while Woman Ordinary Seaman SGSS Subhasinghe was awarded Best Goalkeeper (women). In the men's category, Ordinary Seaman MSM Thurshith earned the Best Player of the Tournament award, bringing further recognition to the Navy's football talent.
