Community engagement fostered through inter-island volleyball tournament

In a spirited effort to strengthen the historical ties of the Sri Lanka Navy and community of the North, the Navy successfully organized an inter-island volleyball tournament, bringing together residents from Eluvaitivu, Analathive and Nainathive Islands for sportsmanship and civil-military unity. The final match of the tournament was held at Welappedi volleyball ground on 29 Apr 25.

Organized by SLNS Elara, the tournament saw over 100 players representing Eluvaitivu, Analathive and Nainathive Islands and players from the Navy taking part in the tournament. Teams that emerged victorious in preliminary matches among islands were through to the final.

The event concluded with shared joy and a strengthened commitment to collaboration in the region.
