Navy's Lakshima Mendis embraces mother land with double bronze in 4x400 events at 26th Asian Athletics Championships

Sri Lanka Navy athlete Woman Ordinary Seaman Lakshima Mendis, who took part in the women’s 4x400m relay and the 4x400m mixed relay teams of Sri Lanka, made her nation proud by securing two (02) bronze medals at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships held from 27 to 31 May 25 in Gumi, Republic of Korea.

Sri Lanka teams delivered outstanding performances at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships, where 43 nations competed. The women’s 4x400m relay team clocked an impressive 03:36.67 minutes and the mixed 4x400m relay team clocked 03:21.95 minutes showcasing their talent on the international stage. Featuring in both events, Woman Ordinary Seaman Lakshima Mendis not only brought glory to the Sri Lanka Navy but also elevated the nation's pride in global athletics.
