Western Naval Command triumphs in Inter-Command Football Tournament 2025

The Western Naval Command emerged victorious in the Inter-Command Football Tournament 2025, securing a thrilling 2-1 win over the Training Command in the final held at the Welisara Navy Ground on 11 Jul 25.

The week-long tournament, held from 04 to 11 Jul 25, saw spirited participation from teams across all Naval Commands, showcasing exceptional skill and teamwork. The final match was a closely contested battle, with the Western Naval Command ultimately prevailing with a 2-1 score line. As the Training Command secured the runner up position, third place was booked by the Eastern Naval Command.

Meanwhile, Officer Cadet RMIKB Ekanayake from the Training Command was adjudged the Emerging Player of the tournament. WTR I KDP Kavinda from the Western Naval Command clinched the Best Goalkeeper award and Lieutenant SI Weerasinghe, also from the Western Naval Command, was named as the Best Player for his exceptional contributions on the field.
