Silver in the sand: Navy duo shines at Women’s Beach Kabaddi in 6th Asian Beach Games

In a display of skill and determination, the Sri Lanka national women’s team secured the overall runner-up title in Women’s Beach Kabaddi at the 6th Asian Beach Games, held in Sanya, China. The tournament, which unfolded from 26 to 30 Apr 26, saw a remarkable contribution from the Sri Lanka Navy, with two of its Kabaddi athletes playing pivotal roles in clinching the silver medal for the island nation.

Representing the nation with distinction, Woman Leading Seaman APM Hansamali and Woman Able Seaman R Priyawarna were instrumental in the team's success throughout the competition. The championship featured top athletes from seven nations, culminating in a final between the Indian and Sri Lanka sides. Following a spirited and closely contested battle, Sri Lanka claimed the silver medal.

The achievement was underscored by the exceptional leadership of Woman Leading Seaman APM Hansamali, who captained the national squad with brilliance.
