Navy Commander helms 14th Defence Services Sports Board meeting
The Executive and General Committee meeting of the Defence Services Sports Board for the 2026/2027 term was convened at the Navy Headquarters on 19 Jun 26, under the patronage of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda.
The session mainly focused on the meticulous organisation of the upcoming 14th Defence Services Games. Key discussions centered on measures to upgrade the athletic skills of tri-forces personnel, strengthen inter-service sports relations and ensure the successful conduct of the forthcoming tournament. Additionally, the committee deliberated on the participation of tri-forces athletes in prestigious international military tournaments.
The meeting was attended by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, alongside Chiefs of Staff from the tri-forces and a distinguished gathering of senior military officers.
