Christian Commemoration and Thanksgiving Service held at Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee
The Christian Commemoration and Thanksgiving Service organized in connection with the 70th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy was held at the Christ the King Chapel in Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee on 17th April 2021. The spiritual ceremony which was conducted by the clergy including the His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Christian Noel Emmanuel, Bishop of Trincomalee was presided over by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.

Navy-constructed Lankagama Nilwella Bridge vested with the public
The Navy-constructed Lankagama Nilwella Bridge was ceremonially declared open on 10th April 2021. The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of the Governor of Southern Province, Dr. Willy Gamage and with the attendance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne. The new bridge connects the villages of Lankagama and Nilwella of Neluwa in the Southern Province.

‘Underwater Gallery Nilwella’ declared open as attractive prospect on southern coast
At the invitation of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne Minister of Youth & Sports, Honorable Namal Rajapaksa declared open the ‘Underwater Gallery Nilwella’ at Nilwella beach today (10th April 2021). Built with the contribution of the Sri Lanka Navy, this latest addition in the southern coast of Nilwella, would from here on attract more local and foreign holidaymakers towards this popular tourist destination.

Navy continues operations to prevent illegal fishing practices by means of commercial explosives
The Navy carried out special operations in the Eastern Naval Command during the past week, with a view to prevent illegal fishing practices conducted using commercial explosives. During these operations, the Navy managed to nab 02 suspects with several commercial explosives devised for blast fishing.

Navy apprehends 20 persons suspected to have attempted to illegally migrate from country
Seventy two (72) senior and junior ratings receive interest free loans
Sri Lanka Navy granted an interest free loan worth Rs. 500,000 each to 43 senior sailors and Rs. 200,000 each to 29 junior sailors in the Leading Rate today (07th April 2021). The occasion to hand over cheques, amounting to Rs. 27.3 million in total, to the beneficiaries was presided over by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters.

Eastern Naval Command supports to improve water sports skills of students of Tissa Vidyalaya
The Eastern Naval Command organized a water sport competition for the students and teachers of Tissa Vidyalaya in the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee. The event was held in the Pepper Pot Jetty, inner harbour area Trincomalee on 05th April 2021. The tournament was organized by the 4th Fast Attack Flotilla with Seamanship School of Naval & Maritime Academy under the guidance of the Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral YN Jayarathna. The prime motive of this competition was to develop the skills of the future generation in water sports and enticing them to engage in this exciting sport discipline in the future.

The three-storied ‘Brahmanawatte Dhammakiththi Tissa Maha Nahimi Memorial Pilgrimage Hall’, built utilizing manpower made available by the Navy at Nagadeepa Purana Rajamaha Viharaya, was declared open under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and with the attendance of President Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne today (03rd April 2021).

Navy emerge champions in Division I Inter-Club Women's One Day Cricket Tournament
The Sri Lanka Navy women's cricket team on 02nd April 2021 won the Inter Club Division I Women's One Day Cricket Championship organized by the Sri Lanka Cricket. The final was played at the Navy Cricket Ground in Welisara where the Navy managed to defeat Army ‘A’ women’s team by two wickets.

Navy lends helping hand for renovation of Roman Catholic Primary School in Niripola, Hanwella
The children’s playground and several other renovated facilities at Roman Catholic Primary School in Niripola, Hanwella were declared open for the benefit of school children on 29th March 2021. Dr. Miran Salgado along with his family members in the United States of America extended financial assistance for the school renovation which was undertaken by the Navy as one of its social responsibility initiatives.

The maiden telecast of 'Haritha TV', launched by the board of governors of Sri Jinarathana Vocational Technical Training Center affiliated to the Gangarama Temple, Hunupitiya - Colombo, was inaugurated under the patronage of His Excellency the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the temple premises today (31st March 2021). The special event which marked another feat in television broadcasting was attended by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.

The religious ceremony held for the depositing of treasures at the Square Chamber of the Sandahiru Stupa got off the ground under the auspices of Defence Secretary General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne in the sacred city of Anuradhapura this morning (28th March 2021). Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and President Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne also attended this spiritual event that was held amidst a religious setting on the ‘Medin’ full moon poya day.

Oceanlust’s reef cleaning project kicks off with the attendance of Commander of the Navy
Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne presided over the inauguration of 1st reef cleaning project in 2021 organized by ‘Oceanlust’ e-magazine at Malima Club House, Uswetakeiyawa today (27th March 2021). The main aim of the programme was to clean the natural coral reef extending northwards from the Kelani estuary and the neighboring shoreline.

The passing out parade of naval artificer apprentices of the 17th artificer intake of the Sri Lanka Navy was held at the main parade ground of Naval Institute of Technology in Welisara today (23rd March 2021). The ceremony was graced by Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Sanath Uthpala, as the Chief Guest.
