North Central Command’s drills best at Inter-Command Drill Competition-2026

The North Central Naval Command won the championship at the Navy Inter-Command Drill Competition - 2026, held on 1 and 2 August at SLNS Shiksha.

The annual event aims to enhance discipline, leadership and drill standards among naval officers and sailors.

The competition, held for the 13th time, featured 9 teams representing the Western, Eastern, Southern, Northern, North Central, Southeastern, Northwestern, Afloat and Training Commands, and a separate team (1) of women sailors.

Demonstrating strong command, control and precision in drill, the North Central Naval Command secured the championship. The Western Naval Command finished as runners-up.

The award for Best Power of Command was won by Lieutenant Commander Kushan Tennakoon of the North Central Naval Command, while Ordinary Seaman DMDD Rajarathna won the trophy for Best Drills.

The prize-awarding ceremony was graced by the Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Indika De Silva. The Training Commander SLNS Shiksha, Commander Kasun Nuwarapaksha, as well as personnel from the Navy and sister services were also present.
