Commander of the Navy pays courtesy call on Commander of the Army

The newly appointed Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo at the Army Headquarters today (06 July 2026).

The Commander of the Navy was received with a ceremonial Guard of Honour, in keeping with time-honoured military customs. During a formal meeting, the two senior defence chiefs held discussions on shared interests, with special emphasis on the contributions of the Sri Lanka Army and Navy in bolstering national security.

The courtesy call drew to a close with an exchange of mementoes, symbolizing shared professional values and inter-service cooperation.
