Two new holiday accommodation facilities declared open in Northern Naval Command

To expand welfare facilities for naval personnel and their families, two new holiday accommodation facilities were declared open in the Northern Naval Command under the auspices of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy and Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Buddhika Liyanagamage, on 20 and 21 July 2026.

The first resort, a Junior Sailors' Holiday Bungalow, was opened on 20 July at the Naval Detachment, Sakyapuram, under SLNS Agbo. The second, a Naval Holiday Resort, was declared open on 21 July at the Naval Detachment Paranthan, under Naval Deployment Veththalakerni.

The newly established resorts form part of the Sri Lanka Navy's ongoing welfare programme aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of naval personnel. The facilities are expected to provide more comfortable and improved holiday accommodation for service members and their families.

The opening ceremonies were attended by the Deputy Area Commander of the Northern Naval Area, Commanding Officers of SLNS Agbo and Naval Deployment Veththalakerni, along with a group of naval personnel.
