Sri Lanka Navy Medical Officers recognised for exemplary peacekeeping service

In a fitting tribute to international cooperation and humanitarian service, two senior specialist medical officers from the Sri Lanka Navy were recognised for their outstanding contributions during the United Nations International Peacekeepers Day, held with great pageantry in Bor, South Sudan.

Surgeon Captain Lasantha Uluwishewa and Surgeon Captain Chaminda Amarasekara received Letters of Commendation recognising their exceptional service and dedication, in safeguarding the health and well-being of the people of South Sudan. The grand ceremony was held under the patronage of Dr. Riek Gai Kok Diang, Governor of Jonglei State, and was attended by senior South Sudanese government officials alongside the Head of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

This global recognition further solidifies the Sri Lanka Navy’s distinguished contribution to international peacekeeping and humanitarian missions, while elevating Sri Lanka’s prestige on the world stage.
