Twenty (20) Sri Lanka Air Force personnel completed the second Water Survival Training Course at the Special Boat Squadron Training School (SBSTS) in Trincomalee on 5 November 2026.

The course, which commenced on 26 October, aimed to enhance the survival skills and operational readiness of Air Force personnel dealing with emergency situations in maritime environments. A total of 5 officers and 15 airmen participated in the training programme. Certificates were awarded by the Training Commander of the SBSTS, Commander Tissa Kumara, during the closing ceremony.

The comprehensive curriculum featured theoretical and practical instruction in swimming, floating techniques, underwater escape protocols, sea survival skills, first aid and emergency rescue methods. The training concluded with an 18-hour practical exercise conducted across island environments within Trincomalee harbour.

The initiative serves to further strengthen inter-service cooperation and joint operational capability between the Sri Lanka Navy and the Sri Lanka Air Force.
