Advanced Rule of Law Seminar concludes in Galle

A three-day seminar on the Rule of Law, jointly organised by the United States Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) and the Defence Security Cooperation University (DSCU), concluded with a certificate awarding ceremony. The seminar ran from 26 to 28 October at the Radisson Blu Resort in Gintota, Galle.

The programme, held with the aim of broadening understanding of the importance of the rule of law in the effective discharge of professional responsibilities, focused on the professional skills development of naval personnel, legal awareness and enhancing and updating knowledge on safeguarding the rule of law during naval operations. Accordingly, seven (7) officers representing the Southern Naval Command, including Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral HNS Perera, participated in this programme.

The certificate award ceremony was attended by officers representing the U.S. DSCA and the DSCU: Lieutenant Jamie Bishop and Lieutenant Summer Combs of the U.S. Navy, Captain Armando Santiago of the U.S. Army and Captain Stephen Sakowicz of the U.S. Marine Corps.
