Breast cancer awareness programme in Trincomalee

An awareness programme on breast cancer was conducted for female naval personnel of the Eastern Naval Command at the Naval Dockyard in Trincomalee on 20 October 2026.

The session took place at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium to mark International Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The programme, aimed at raising breast cancer awareness and stressing the importance of early detection and preventive measures, featured resource contributions from Lieutenant Commander Chamila Vithanage, Counselling Officer and Surgeon Lieutenant Thavishya De Silva of the Eastern Naval Command Hospital.

A group of lady officers and women sailors took part in the programme, which highlighted the Eastern Naval Command medical professionals' dedication to promoting health education.
