Captain Anuruddha Herath assumes duties as Acting Commodore Superintendent of Health (West)

Captain Anuruddha Herath assumed duties as the Acting Commodore Superintendent of Health (West) at the Navy General Hospital (NGH) in Colombo today, 12 October 2026.

The formal handover took place at the NGH, with Commodore Dharmapriya Chandragupta, the outgoing Commodore Superintendent of Health (West), handing over duties to Captain Herath.

Captain Herath joined the Sri Lanka Navy as a direct-entry officer in 2001 and was commissioned on 17 September that year. Before assuming his new appointment, he served as Captain Naval Medical Administration at the NGH.
