Merits transferred to fallen naval personnel of Digampathana

A Buddhist religious programme was held at the Naval Detachment of Digampathana to commemorate naval personnel who laid down their lives in action at Digampathana in 2006.

The events, which took place on 15 and 16 October 2026, were conducted under the supervision of Captain Thushara Jayawardena, Commanding Officer SLNS Tissa. The commemoration rituals commenced on 15 October with a sermon delivered by Ven. Pallegama Gunaratana Thero of the Magallena Rajamaha Viharaya. This was followed by an almsgiving on 16 October to bestow merits on the fallen service members.

Officers and both senior and junior sailors from SLNS Tissa and the Eastern Naval Command attended the events.
