Naval personnel complete medical laboratory training course at the Open University of Sri Lanka
Fifteen (15) Sri Lanka Navy Medical Assistants received certificates today, 9 October 2026, after successfully completing a short-term training course in medical laboratory technology conducted by the Open University of Sri Lanka.
The certificate awarding ceremony was held at the auditorium of the Open University in Nawala and Professor Sunil De Silva, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Open University of Sri Lanka, presided over the event.
The programme was designed to develop the professional knowledge and practical skill set of naval medical staff in laboratory diagnostics. The training will further enhance the efficiency and overall operational standards of the Navy's medical service.
Present on this occasion were; Surgeon Captain Dinesh Ariyadeva, Deputy Director Naval Medical Services (Prevention and Rehabilitation), Dr. Dulari Wijeratne, Head of the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at the Open University and a group of invited guests.
