Navy Commander hails creative-best of ‘Sayurusara’ 50^th edition

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando presented cash prize to the winners of the creative competitions associated with the 50^th edition of the ‘Sayurusara’ magazine, at the Navy Headquarters today, 16 October 2026.

For the 50^th edition, cash prizes were presented for outstanding achievements in various categories. Accordingly, Able Seaman HMKM Bandara received the prize for the best poem. Meanwhile, Ms. Dulini Sananya Udugamasooriya, the daughter of Commander (Marine) Nishantha Prasad, was recognized for the best painting, while Lieutenant Commander (Diving) LYS Weerasinghe received the cash prize for the best photograph.

Launched in 2007, ‘Sayurusara’ has been a magazine published by the Navy Media Unit, offering a platform to showcase the creative talents of naval personnel.
