Navy Commander visits Commander Shanthi Bahar Memorial Sailing Club in Trincomalee

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando, carried out an observation visit to the Commander Shanthi Bahar Memorial Sailing Club at the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee today, 31 October 2026.

Operating under the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee, the club organises an annual international sailing regatta in collaboration with the Yachting Association of Sri Lanka. The initiative plays a key role in promoting water sports across the region.

The sailing club provides training facilities for naval personnel, which the Sri Lanka Navy has also extended to local school children.

During his visit, the Navy Commander interacted with and encouraged the naval personnel and school students undergoing training at the venue, while directing officials to elevate the standard of ongoing training programmes.
