SLNS Tissa proudly marks 69th anniversary
Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) Tissa, belonging to the Eastern Naval Command, proudly marked its 69th anniversary on 15 October 2026.
The anniversary celebrations included a divisional inspection of naval personnel at the main parade ground of the base, conducted by Commanding Officer of SLNS Tissa, Captain Thushara Jayawardena. In keeping with naval traditions, officers and sailors came together to partake of the 'Barakana' meal at the General Mess.
Commissioned on 15 October 1957, SLNS Tissa has made arrangements to conduct a ‘Bodhi Puja’ programme at Tissa Viharaya on 25 October, commemorating fallen naval personnel, as part of the anniversary celebrations.
