Annual Ganesha Pooja and procession held at Trincomalee Naval Dockyard

The annual Ganesha Pooja and religious procession took place at the Naval Dockyard in Trincomalee on 14 and 15 September 2026.

Organised under the patronage of the Naval Hindu Association and initiation of the Commanding Officer SLN Dockyard, the event was aimed at promoting religious harmony and invoking blessings upon the Navy.

Following the kovil rituals, a procession featuring traditional Hindu cultural performances carried the statue of Lord Ganesha through the Dockyard premises. The procession then paraded through the streets of Trincomalee city before concluding at the city's main Ganesha Temple.

The Deputy Chief of Staff and Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Buddhika Liyanagamage, attended the festivities alongside naval officers, sailors, families of naval personnel, and local Hindu devotees.
