New Commanding Officer assumes command of SLNS Udara

Commander Deshapriya Maldeniya assumed duties as the new Commanding Officer of SLNS Udara at the CNAD pier in the Naval Dockyard Trincomalee today, 18 September 2026.

The traditional change of command ceremony commenced with the formal reception of the newly appointed Commanding Officer, followed by the handing over of command by the outgoing Commanding Officer, Commander Suranga Kodikara. Present on the occasion was Rear Admiral Haritha Jayadewa, the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet.

Having joined the naval fleet on 11th June 2000, SLNS Udara has since served as a steadfast asset to the Sri Lanka Navy.
