New Commanding Officer takes helm of SLNS Ranarisi & Abheetha II

Commander Mangala Karunarathna officially assumed duties as the new Commanding Officer of SLNS Ranarisi & SLNS Abheetha II during a formal ceremony at the CNAD pier in the Naval Dockyard Trincomalee today, 18 September 2026.

In a ceremony steeped in naval tradition, Commander Lakruwan Jinasena formally handed over command of the vessels to Commander Karunarathna, following an official reception of the new Commanding Officer. Rear Admiral Haritha Jayadewa, the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet, was also present on this occasion.

Belonging to the naval fleet, SLNS Ranarisi was commissioned on 14 July 1992 and SLNS Abheetha II on 11th June 2000.
