Sri Lanka Naval Association holds 47th anniversary and Annual General Meeting in Welisara
The Sri Lanka Naval Association celebrated its 47th anniversary and held its Annual General Meeting at the Wave n' Lake Hall in Welisara on 19 September 2026.
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando, attended as the chief guest at the invitation of the association’s president, Rear Admiral AR Amarasinghe (Retd).
Addressing the gathering, Vice Admiral Fernando highlighted the value of bringing together different generations of naval personnel under a single organization. He noted that the experience and insight of retired members serve as vital guidance as the Navy addresses evolving national security needs and contributes to national development. He added that the association plays a key role in preserving naval traditions and transmitting core military values across generations.
The event was attended by the Vice President of the Sri Lanka Naval Association, office bearers, former Navy Commanders,Chief of Staff of the Navy Rear Admiral Ravindra Tissera, alongside a large gathering of retired senior officers and sailors.
