69 senior sailors receive interest free loans
Sri Lanka Navy granted an interest free loan worth Rs. 500,000 each, to 69 senior sailors today (13th August 2020). The beneficiaries received their cheques in this regard from Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne during a simple ceremony held at the Navy Headquarters.
A sum of Rs. 34.5 million has been released by the Naval Benefit Foundation for this welfare initiative mooted to recognize the contributions of long serving senior sailors of the Sri Lanka Navy. Accordingly, 3,249 senior sailors have been granted interest free loans till date. Meanwhile, the Navy is resolute to grant this financial support to yet another 2,020 senior sailors in the future.
