Rear Admiral Nilantha Heenatigala retires from naval service

Upon completion of over 34 years of distinguished career, Rear Admiral Nilantha Heenatigala bade adieu to the Sri Lanka Navy today (04th September 2020).

The senior officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today received warm wishes from Director Generals of the Navy, adding a cherished memory to this special occasion. Subsequently, Rear Admiral Heenatigala was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions before fellow naval officers, gathered at the portal of the Naval Headquarters, extending best wishes to the retiring senior officer. Thereupon, Rear Admiral Heenatigala was sent off in a motorcade amidst the cheers of senior and junior sailors.

Rear Admiral Nilantha Heenatigala joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1986 and held key appointments such as the Deputy Area Commander of Northern, North Central and Southern Naval Commands, Director Naval Welfare, Director Naval Communication as well as Director General Services, during his unblemished naval career.
