VBSS Instructor Course begins in Trincomalee

The inauguration of Visit Board Search & Seizure (VBSS) Instructor Course conducted for the Sri Lanka Navy and Coast Guard personnel, in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Global Maritime Crime Programme, was marked at the Special Boat Squadron Training School in Trincomalee on 21st September 2020.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime delivers VBSS training courses on regular basis and such courses are conducted only in the Seychelles and at the Special Boat Squadron Headquarters in Trincomalee, in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).

The first of its kind specialized VBSS Instructor Course held this year to be followed by four (04) officers from the Sri Lanka Navy and Coast Guard and it will be carried out in such a manner enabling the participants to enhance their knowledge on instructor techniques required to perform VBSS instructor duties. Further, the participants taking part in this programme are expected to impart their knowledge to more Navy and Coast Guard personnel in due course.

The Training Commander Special Boat Squadron Training School, officials and instructors from the UNODC and instructors of the Special Boat Squadron Training School also attended this inaugural ceremony.
