Commander of the Navy attends ceremonial event inaugurated construction at sacred Mihintale premises under the patronage of His Excellency the President

The ceremonial event which marked the inauguration of renovation work of Mihindu Maha Seya, Mihindu Cave Senasana and Dhatu Mandiraya at the historic Mihintale Raja Maha Viharaya, Anuradhapura held under the patronage of the President, His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa on 24th October 2020. This significant occasion was also attended by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.

The renovation work of these structures will be conducted with the contribution of members of the Maha Mevna Meditation Monastery, led by Most Ven. Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thero, preserving the antiquity of the sacred area. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Navy enables its manpower for the renovation of Mihindu Maha Seya and those restoration work is scheduled to be completed soon.

Members of Maha Sangha including the Chief Incumbent of Historical Mihintale Raja Maha Viharaya Ven. Dr. Walawahangunawewe Dhammaratana Thero, ministers, members of parliament, Secretary of Defence, Major General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne and a large group of people were also present on this special occasion.
