23 Navy officers graduated from Defence Services Command and Staff College

The graduation ceremony of the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Sapugaskanda Course No 14 was held at Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre on 11th December 2020. Secretary of Defence, Major General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, where Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne also attended.

The Course No 14 commenced on 06th January 2020 and concluded on 11th December 2020. A total of 149 officers comprising of 81 officers from the Sri Lanka Army, 23 officers from the Sri Lanka Navy, 27 officers from the Sri Lanka Air Force, and 18 foreign officers representing Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Maldives, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, and Sudan completed this year’s course.

Upon successful completion of the course of study, the twenty three (23) naval officers of Course No 14 were conferred the psc (Passed Staff College) qualification. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Commander (L) BARS Bamunusinghe from Sri Lanka Navy received both Golden Owl Award and Commandant’s Honours where Lieutenant Commander (N) WPPN Perera also received Commandant’s Honours.

Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Commandant Defence Services Command and Staff College, Major General DAPN Dematipitiya, academic and directing staff of DSCSC and officers of course No. 14 were also present on this occasion.
