Navy bids farewell to Rear Admiral Bandara Jayathilaka

Upon completion of his distinguished career spanning over 33 years in Sri Lanka Navy, Rear Admiral Bandara Jayathilaka retired from naval service today (12th May 2021).

The outgoing senior officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today received warm wishes from Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and the Board of Management before he was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. Thereupon, fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer who then took leave from the Navy Headquarters in a motorcade.

Rear Admiral Bandara Jayathilaka joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1987 as an officer cadet of the 05th intake of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy. The senior officer rendered a prominent service to the organization holding many command appointments onboard ships and at shore-establishments. Deputy Director Naval Personnel & Manager Human Resources, Naval Officer in Charge (Trincomalee-South), Commandant SLNS Vidura, Director Naval Administration, Acting Director General Administration, Deputy Area Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Deputy Director General Sri Lanka Coast Guard and Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet were few of the notable appointments he held in his distinguished naval career.
