Rear Admiral Jagath Premarathna retires from naval service

Marking the termination of a distinguished career spanning over 33 years in Sri Lanka Navy, Rear Admiral Jagath Premarathna retired from naval service today (16th September 2021).

On behalf of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Upul de Silva and the Board of Management extended warm wishes to the retiring senior officer who is celebrating his 55th birthday today. Subsequently, fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer who was sent off in a motorcade through the portals of Navy Headquarters.

Having joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1988 as an Officer Cadet of the 18th intake, Rear Admiral Jagath Premarathna has rendered a commendable service during his illustrious naval career. Among significant assignments he held; Commanding Officer appointments of ships and establishments, Director Naval Intelligence, Director Sports and Deputy Area Commander Northern Naval Area stood prominent.
