Navy-built Bhikkhu Hostel at Muhudu Maha Viharaya declared open

The opening of newly built Bhikkhu Hostel at Muhudu Maha Viharaya was held under the patronage of Commander Southeastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha Gamage on 21st October 2021.

The newly constructed Bhikku Hostel at the historic Muhudu Maha Viharaya was constructed with the financial assistance of a number of philanthropists and skilled manpower enabled by Sri Lanka Navy.

Subsequent to the opening, Commander Southeastern Naval Area also laid the foundation stone for the “Dolos Mahe Pahana” to be erected by the Navy at the temple premises.

The event was held adhering to COVID-19 protocols to prevent possible transmission of the pandemic. Members of Maha Sangha including Chief Adhikarana Sanghanayake of the Eastern Province, Most Ven. Warakapola Indrasiri Tero, Deputy Area Commander Southeastern Naval Area, Commodore Asanga Ranasuriya, limited group of naval personnel from the command and sponsors were present on this occasion.
